You again!…you’re out of here buddy.
Since losing my dad to cancer several years ago @kiertor started to grow Peruvian/Andean food in the garden. Today she pointed out this quinoa plant (an Andean superfood dating back 3,000 to 5000 years) that popped up between the flowers. It was the first time seeing one in person and memories of my dad flooded my thoughts. It is nice to encounter a private moment in a public project. #gardenasthestudio #northsideworkshop
"After sculptor Sam Van Aken bought a failing orchard in upstate New York full of hundreds of different fruit trees, he began the pain-staking process of grafting several of the different varieties together into one tree. Six years later, the result is this 40-fruit bearing tree, which includes some heirloom varieties that are centuries old."
Sam Van Aken's The Tree of 40 Fruit are the beginning of a narrative. As a symbolic number found throughout western religion and culture, the number 40 symbolizes the infinite, a bounty that is beyond calculation.
And this is only one of the Trees of 40 Fruits! Follow us for more updates on the series of trees.
